Mike Klun - Vice President

Mike started as an iron worker out in the field for a family friend that was a contractor. He worked with the crew during the summers and while at the University of Minnesota, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Business and Communications. Enjoying the work he was doing, Mike decided to head to Dunwoody Institute where he received his degree in Architectural Drafting and Estimating. He joined Sheehy upon graduation from Dunwoody and has been here for over 20 years.

One aspect of the job that Mike enjoys is knowing that when they bid they are extremely competitive, and no matter what the project is they can handle it. “We are like meat and potatoes. If we say something, we commit to it and follow through. We do whatever it takes to meet the client’s needs and make sure they are satisfied. If there is a problem we take care of it and move on. Our people are top of the line and can take care of anything that comes up.”

Mike believes one of the things that makes Sheehy so successful is the experience and longevity of their people. He has a lot of respect for what the people out in the field can do to get the job done and knows there isn’t anything they won’t tackle. Last summer he felt an extra twinge of pride when his oldest son was out in the field working with him. He enjoys teaching the next generation and preparing them for the wonderful sort of opportunities he has had at Sheehy Construction.

Likening raising and coaching children to construction – Mike said it is all about problem solving and how to be a good leader and team member. Mike and his wife keep busy teaching those values to their three boys. He has coached all of them in football, basketball and baseball over the years and has run the football program in North Branch for many years as well. When he isn’t busy coaching, Mike enjoys family fishing trips and hunting. He is also interested in wetland and prairie restoration and has worked restoring the land at his home and land they own near South Dakota.
